Eric Fernandez selected to North-South All-Star game

The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced the rosters for the 2010 Division III North-South Senior All-Star game, which will be held on Friday, May 28 at 3 pm at Goucher College and Marymount's Eric Fernandez was one of the long-pole midfielders chosen for the South squad.

Fernandez was selected after playing in all 16 games for the Saints this season.  He was the leading scorer for MU from the defensive end of the field, finishing with eight goals, including one game-winning goal and three assists.  He was seventh overall in scoring for the team this season. 

He also led the Saints in caused turnovers with 23 for the season and was second in ground balls with 63.  For his career, he is 13th all-time in ground balls with 206 and finished with 13 goals and 11 assists.  He played in 59 of 60 games during his four years. 


Men's lacrosse team captures honors at athletic banquet

Graduate student Alex Curley, shown here with head coach Jon Reynolds, was the winner of the 2010 Coach"s Award in men's lacrosse. 

Junior Tom Anderson was named the 2010 Dr. Linda McMahon Male Scholar Athlete of the Year.  Dr. McMahon is shown here presenting the award. 

Senior Joe Gagliardi won the James Shelton Award at the annual athletic banquet.  The award is given to the student-athlete who best personifies Shelton's qualities -- positive nature, loyalty, team-first attitude, and commitment to Marymount.

Saints compete in Marymount 5K challenge

The Saints gather for a group shot after completing the Marymount 5K Challenge.  Hours after completing the race, they were on the field for a competition with the alumni.

Directions to Home Fields:

Gunston Field, 2700 Lang Street, Arlington:  From the main campus, go left on Glebe Road and continue past I-395 (still on Glebe) and then take a left on Lang Street. 

Word of Grace Field, 13832 Redskin Drive, Herndon:  From the main campus go right on Glebe, left on Rock Spring Drive, right on Old Dominion, left a Dolley Madison Blvd, take ramp to Dulles Airport/I495 North, merge onto VA-267 (toll road --12.8 miles), take exit 9A to merge onto Sully Road (VA-28S).  Exit onto Mclearen Road (VA-668E), turn left at Towerview Road and left at Redskin Drive.

St. Stephen's-St. Agnes,1000 St. Stephen's Road, Alexandria:  From the main campus go left onto Glebe Road to US 50 East.  Merge onto Washington Blvd. to I-395 Pentagon.  Merge toward I-395 S toward Richmond.  Take the Seminary Road East ramp.  Turn left onto Seminary Road.  Turn right onto St. Stephen's Road.  ***(To St. Andrews Church for parking on February 23:  same as above to Seminary Road then turn right onto North Howard Road.)

Washington-Lee HS: From the main campus, go left on Glebe Road and continue to Washington Boulevard . Go left onto Washington Blvd. to Stafford Street . The field is at the intersection of Stafford and Wash. Blvd. 

Bishop O'Connell HS:  From the main campus, go left on Glebe, right on 26th Street.  Stay on 26th Street and cross over Sycamore Street and school and field will be to the left.

Wakefield HS:  From main campus, go left on Glebe, right on 26th Street, left on George Mason Drive.  Stay on George Mason for approximately five miles.  Go left on Columbus which becomes Chesterfield.  The school and field are on the right.
